Emily Lippe - Owner/Party Host

Hi! I'm Emily aka Miss Lippe.  Being a Lippe has always been a strong part of my identity growing up, and thanks to Billy Madison, a natural nickname to be called Miss Lippe.

With three siblings and all of us in sports, I was often responsible for my own snacks. I learned young that I loved to cook, even if it was just firing up a batch of frozen dumplings. Until the fateful day my mom found a dumpling recipe for me to try to make myself.

As a naturally independent person who studied math, played basketball, and danced I ran in a lot of circles but didn’t have a lot of time for a core group of friends. I started inviting people over from different areas of my life to make dumplings together and realized how much I loved it. I got to play host and help facilitate new friendships while staying connected with people I cared about.

The best part was that everyone who came gave me great ideas and helped me develop my recipes further. I remember the first time someone showed me how to crimp the dumplings, and the first time I tried making vegetarian to accommodate my sisters. Over the years my arsenal has grown through learning from everyone around me.

I took my party from California, to Connecticut for college, to Nashville after I graduated, to San Francisco, to LA and ultimately here to Monterey. Along the way I have generated countless recipes and connections.

I have tapped into a food that has endless possibilities. There are dumplings from all of the world for me to try and learn to make. I am so excited to continue on this journey of learning about so many cuisines and cultures while creating an environment for people to take an active role in the food they eat and have a great time doing it.

Miss Lippe's is rooted in family, food, and conversation.  I hope to bring what I have learned over the years to your kitchen, because dinner is about so much more than just what you are eating.
